OLS regression between Route and Bouldering Grades

The slope is a positive 1 which suggests if you rank up on routes, you should generally be able to climb boulders better as well, but the interesting thing to note, is the noise. Given that our dataset is a small sample of 600 climbers, you can clearly see there are certain climbers that do far better while climbing large rocks than boulders, vice versa is true as well.

the further away you are from the regression line, suggests that you may not be equally skilled in both forms of climbing.

R^2 of 0.4 suggests bouldering grades only explain 40% of the variation in route grades, which makes sense as route climbing is more about endurance and having a good flow.

So what do you think explains 60% of your performance on routes?
is it technique, strength or just the positve mindset to send it.
